The Ultimate Weapon of Self-Defense...made by Ninjas
Yes ladies and gentlemen, it is the NINJA WEAPON OF SELF-DEFENSE. I think that blob in the top left corner is the NINJA.
Let's go through a run down of the features of this gotta-have-it-now item:
- Made by NINJAS
- A weapon
- Of Self defense
- Specially designed (as opposed to not specially designed!?) by NINJAS!
- Effective
- Devastating
- Can be used by male or female ninja--equal opportunity eye stabbing
- Also makes a dapper hat-pin or tie tack, for those who use either of those things.
- The sheath? You know that's gonna be a quality item. Might seem like cheap plastic, but that's really dragon scales...
- I can only imagine how informative the instructions are - and if they were also written by NINJAS!
- Did I mention that it was MADE BY NINJAS?
Sadly, the NINJA!!! WEAPON OF SELF DEFENSE went out of production sometime in the 80s. If you can find one today, well...consider yourself very lucky. Owning one of these makes you a de facto Ninja Warlord of the 36th degree.
The Ninja Weapon of Offense was too incredibly powerful to be featured in a simple print ad. One must journey through the Land of Fire and Smoke, pass through the Gates of the Dead, fight the ghosts of Hitler, Stalin and Mao, and then swan dive into the lava pools of Mount Doom...and if one were to survive those trials, then and only then could they behold the Ninja Weapon of Offense. It also doubles as shoe horn.

New "Prepper" Reality TV Casting
I've gotten a few e-mails from casting agents/production companies and so on, but this is my favorite one yet.
I am a Casting Director working on a development project for a major cable television network. This series is tentatively entitled "Are You Ready?" and it is a competition show in search of America's Top Prepper. The concept is prepper against prepper in a competition to outlast and excel in challenges featuring the most prepared among us. (Think Survivor but with a group of MacGyvers instead of ordinary people. This show is about extraordinarily prepared people, competing in extraordinary circumstances).
The scenarios will range from pure survival (i.e. building a shelter and cooking a meal with scarce resources) to more constructed challenges like rescuing a family who has been stranded by rising flood waters. All scenarios will test the competitor's knowledge and readiness, but above all ingenuity and resourcefulness under pressure. The challenges will emphasize the mental not just the physical.
Each episode, competitors will be given a set of survival-inspired scenarios to compete against one another for the title of "Ultimate Prepper." Preppers will be transported to an undisclosed location with little more than their Everyday Carry or Bug Out Bag.
I am hoping to speak with interested candidates as soon as possible.
While this sounds crazy, it's apparently real...if anyone wants to connect with the casting agent let me know. I got a good laugh out of it, though.

Friday Funny Pics - No Offensive Content for the French
One thing I learned last week: We have some readers from France. Another thing I learned last week: they're a sensitive bunch! Maybe it's all that wine, labor unions, ample holidays and early retirement. Anyways, this week we'll lay off the Frenchmen. Promise.
